When Someone Makes You Apologize for Something They Did

Someone hurts your feelings. You calmly explain why.

Instead of apologizing, they say, “You’re too sensitive. You always create problems.”

Now you’re defending yourself.

Ten minutes later, you’re the one apologizing.

Strange, isn’t it?

You started the conversation because of their behaviour. Somehow, your reaction became the problem.

This is called **blame shifting**. When repeatedly used to undermine your confidence in your own perceptions, it can become part of gaslighting.

**Remember:** If every conversation about someone’s behaviour ends with you questioning yourself, pay attention to the pattern.
